New Class Starts - 9/23/2026
Four-Week Meditation Series | Beginning Wednesday, September 23rd
Join us this fall for a four-week meditation series led by Geoff Heskett. Whether you're new to meditation or looking to deepen your practice, each week explores a different meditation practice, offering simple and accessible tools to bring greater clarity, ease, inner peace, and presence to your everyday life.
Week 1 — Foundations
Build a strong foundation for a lifelong meditation practice through two essential forms of awareness. Begin with focused attention to develop concentration and mindfulness, then open into a more spacious awareness of simply being present with whatever arises.
Week 2 — Fundamental Trust
Reconnect with a deeper sense of trust in yourself and in the unfolding of life. This practice invites us to tune into an underlying sense of acceptance, benevolence, and love that is always available beneath the surface of our experience.
Week 3 — Identity & the Original Self
Explore the question, Who am I beneath the stories, roles, and concepts I hold about myself? Through meditation and self-inquiry, we begin to move beyond surface identity and connect with a deeper sense of authenticity and self-awareness.
Week 4 — Doorway to the Unconscious
Explore the threshold between conscious awareness and the deeper layers of the psyche. Inspired by Carl Jung's work with active imagination, this practice invites us to gently bring attention to what may be hidden within, creating an opportunity for greater awareness, understanding, and integration.
Whether you are completely new to meditation or looking to deepen an existing practice, this series offers a welcoming space to explore meditation as a path toward greater presence, self-awareness, authenticity, and connection.

Research indicates that meditation structurally and functionally alters the body by lowering stress responses, enhancing immune function, and changing brain regions linked to emotion regulation. It reduces chronic inflammation by lowering interleukin-6 (IL-6) levels and alleviates symptoms of anxiety, depression, and pain.[1, 2, 3, 4]
Key Physical Effects of Meditation
Brain Structure and Function: MRI scans show that meditation can reduce the size and activity of the amygdala (the brain's fear center), while increasing gray matter in areas associated with attention, emotion regulation, and self-awareness. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Immune System Improvement: Studies show meditation helps decrease inflammatory markers and increases telomerase activity, an enzyme that guards against cellular aging. [1, 2]
Cardiovascular and Metabolic Health: Meditation decreases sympathetic nervous system activity (responsible for the "fight or flight" response) and increases parasympathetic activity, leading to lower heart rate and reduced blood pressure. [1]
Chronic Illness Management: Research indicates that meditation is effective for reducing pain, managing irritable bowel syndrome symptoms, and improving sleep quality. [1, 2]
Genetics and Aging: Research has shown that a one-week, mind-body retreat can rapidly reprogram the body to be more resilient to stress, with molecular changes that aid in recovery. [1]
